Here is the final and 3rd design for the school logo. I got the idea that orcas travel in pods. The school I am designing this for is a special needs school. Special need kids need support from teachers, aids, counselors, etc just like a young orca needs support from the rest of the family pod. Maybe I was thinking too hard on this one. I'll let you know which one the school picks.
